Car accessories sourcing & specs guide materials, fit, sizes, logo, packaging, MOQ and samples
Specifying a private label car accessory comes down to a handful of decisions: which material, universal or vehicle-specific fit, which sizes, how it is branded and packed, what drives MOQ, how sampling works — and which documents your market needs for 12 V heated and electronic products. This guide collects the reference points GearForge uses when quoting seat covers, heated seat covers, sun shades, snow covers and car air purifiers. Formats given are common requests, not product ratings.
- PU leather vs. polyester vs. neoprene and other materials
- Universal vs. vehicle-specific fit and size ranges
- Logo methods, packaging and what drives MOQ
- Sampling steps and the documentation process — no claims
Materials: PU leather, polyester, neoprene and more
- PU (faux) leather — wipe-clean, premium look; perforated or quilted versions for breathability; used for seat covers and heated cushion tops.
- Polyester and jacquard fabrics — breathable, wide color range, lower cost; seat covers and storage pouches.
- Neoprene — stretch fit and splash resistance; outdoor, sport and work vehicles.
- Mesh / 3D air fabric — warm-climate seat covers and side-window shades.
- Reflective materials — bubble foil, laminated foam and silver-coated polyester for sun shades.
- Coated Oxford polyester and PEVA — windshield snow covers.
- ABS / PC housings — car air purifiers.
Waterproof, UV, heat-reduction and durability claims depend on the exact material and need test documentation for that SKU.
Fit: universal vs. vehicle-specific
Universal products cover many vehicles with stretch, straps and size ranges, keeping SKU counts and MOQ low. Vehicle-specific products follow one pattern or template and need a fitment list (make, model, years, trim, seat configuration) and ideally a reference pattern. Fit is always confirmed on the sample; no vehicle compatibility list is published on this site.
Sizes
Sun shades and snow covers are usually sold in size ranges by vehicle class (compact / sedan, SUV, pickup / van). Seat covers are sized by seat type (bucket, bench, split bench) or by vehicle. Retail packs carry a sizing chart that your team approves.
Logo methods
- Embroidery — fabric and PU leather seat covers, headrests.
- Debossing / embossing, patches — premium PU leather.
- Screen print, heat transfer, printed film — sun shades, snow covers, pouches.
- Pad print and laser marking — purifier housings, controllers.
- Woven labels and hang tags — all textile products.
Packaging & MOQ
Packaging options include window or printed color boxes (seat covers, heated covers, purifiers), PE bags with header cards and pouches (sun shades, snow covers), sleeves, manuals and warnings in your languages, barcodes and marketplace labels. What drives MOQ:
- Pattern — an existing universal pattern with your logo starts lower than a vehicle-specific or new pattern.
- Material and color — custom colors, grains and prints have their own minimums.
- Size range — more sizes spread the quantity per size.
- Logo and packaging — labels start low; printed boxes and custom hardware have their own minimums.
- Documentation — testing for your market adds time and may set a practical minimum per SKU.
- Season — late briefs compress sampling time.
MOQ and lead time are quoted per SKU on every quotation; no prices are published. Send your RFQ via the inquiry form.
Sampling process
- Stock samples — existing patterns and materials to compare quality and fit.
- Pre-production samples — your material, colors, logo and packaging; fit checked on the vehicle or seat range you specify; heated and electronic SKUs measured for your spec sheet.
- Approval — you approve the sample, artwork and claims before mass production.
Documentation for heated and electronic products — general process
We do not hold out certifications, listings or test results on this site. For 12 V heated seat covers and car air purifiers, documentation is handled per SKU and per order, and the buyer must confirm each step for their market:
- Brief. Destination markets, sales channels (retail, dealership, marketplace) and any retailer, marketplace or distributor requirements.
- Electrical safety, EMC and radio. The product and controller are checked against the market’s rules — for example FCC rules for electronics in the US, or CE marking with EMC, RoHS and general product-safety documentation in the EU; some markets apply automotive EMC approval (such as E-Mark) to vehicle accessories. Which apply is confirmed with the laboratory.
- Product-specific rules. For example ozone-emission rules for ionizer air cleaners in some markets, or airbag-related testing where seat covers are sold as airbag compatible.
- Chemicals and labeling. Chemical declarations (for example Prop 65 or REACH) and textile labeling where required.
- Confirm before production. What can be provided — existing reports or testing arranged with an accredited third-party laboratory — is confirmed on the quotation, before mass production. Reports must match the exact SKU.
- Labels, manuals and warnings. Approved by your team and consistent with the documentation for that SKU.
Labeling and claims are the brand owner’s responsibility. Rules change; confirm current requirements with your compliance advisor and laboratory.

General reference for product selection — not product ratings. Documentation is confirmed per SKU and per order for each market.
No certifications, test data or performance figures claimed. We describe what each product is made of, how it works and how it can be customized. We do not display certification marks or listings, publish test data, factory capacity or customer cases on this site. Test reports and certification documentation can be provided or arranged per order for the buyer’s market, as the brand owner requires — including electrical documentation for 12 V heated seat covers and car air purifiers. No health claims. Labeling and claims are the brand owner’s responsibility.
Frequently asked questions
PU leather or fabric seat covers — which should we choose?
PU leather suits premium positioning and easy cleaning; fabric suits lower price points, breathability and wide color ranges. Compare on samples for your channel.
Why does a vehicle-specific program take longer?
Each vehicle range needs its own pattern and fit check on a sample before production, on top of normal artwork and packaging steps.
What is the MOQ and lead time?
Both are quoted per SKU. MOQ depends mainly on the product (an existing universal pattern vs. a vehicle-specific or new pattern), material and color, logo method, packaging and the documentation your market needs; lead time depends on customization, sampling and season — sun shades sell ahead of summer and snow covers ahead of winter, so seasonal programs need to be briefed early. Send your quantities and we confirm both on the quotation — see also the packaging & MOQ section of our sourcing guide.
Do your heated car seat covers carry UL, ETL, CE, FCC or E-Mark approval?
No certification, listing or approval mark is claimed on this site. Heated seat covers combine a heating element, a controller, wiring and a 12 V plug, so which electrical-safety, EMC, automotive (for example E-Mark in some markets) and chemical documents apply is decided by the destination market and sales channel. Test reports and certification documentation are available on request and are confirmed per SKU and per order with the supplier and an accredited laboratory before production; marks may only be printed once the documentation for that exact SKU is in place. Labeling and product claims are the brand owner’s responsibility. See the compliance process.
What CADR or filtration efficiency do your car air purifiers have?
We publish no CADR, filtration-efficiency, particle-size or ozone figures and no health claims. Those values depend on the exact fan, filter media and housing, and must come from test reports for that SKU. Testing and documentation (for example ozone-emission requirements for ionizer models in some markets, or electrical/EMC documents) can be arranged per order for your market — see the compliance process.
Are your seat covers airbag compatible?
Front seats with side airbags need seat covers with an airbag-compatible seam (a tear seam or open section on the airbag side). We make that construction on request, but we do not claim airbag compatibility on this site: whether a cover is suitable for a given seat must be verified by testing for that pattern and vehicle range, and any “airbag compatible” wording on your packaging needs that documentation. Labeling and claims are the brand owner’s responsibility.
Are your products certified or tested?
We do not display certification marks, listings or test data on this site. Test reports and certification documentation can be provided or arranged per order for your market, as your brand requires: tell us the destination market, sales channel and the standard or document your retailer, marketplace or distributor asks for, and the quotation confirms which documentation applies to each SKU and how it is obtained (existing reports for a product, or testing arranged with a third-party laboratory). See the compliance process in our sourcing guide or ask on the inquiry form.
